Grant Road Reconstruction & Widening

Landtech is providing engineering services for the reconstruction and widening of Grant Road from north of Spring Cypress Road to Old Kluge Road in Harris County Precinct 4. Grant Road improvements consist of widening the roadway from a 2-lane asphalt to a 4-lane concrete curb and gutter boulevard section with storm sewer and 14-foot raised median. We are conducting a study of the proposed improvements and preparing the preliminary and final design and construction bid documents.

We completed a topographic and right of way survey including proposed right of way maps with metes and bounds. The project required the acquisition of nineteen parcels to complete the proposed 80-foot section. We coordinated the completion of a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment, geotechnical investigation, and subsurface utility engineering. We also conducted traffic and drainage studies and performed a utility investigation. Several major utility conflicts and an existing water transmission line were addressed in the final design.

Within the project limits there were four traffic signal designs. The Grant Road/ Spring Cypress traffic signal will be modified to match the proposed Grant Road widening, proposed curb ramps, and landing pads. A new traffic signal was designed for the Grant Road/Louetta Road and Grant Road/Rosewood Glen intersection. The design included dedicated left turn lanes and median openings. The proposed storm sewer system located in the southbound inside lane will replace the existing roadside ditches and convey flow to the existing outfall at L103-00-00. The existing outfall at L103-00-00 was improved in order to mitigate the new roadway improvements. The proposed storm sewers will consist of Type “BB”, “BB MOD”, and Type C inlets with an occasional “A” inlet for offsite flow from nearby businesses.

We prepared a detailed Construction Sequence and Traffic Control Plan in order to maintain access to cross streets, residential and commercial properties during reconstruction while maintaining a safe construction zone. We also prepared a Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan.

The final design package included title sheet, complete drainage area maps, typical sections, plan and profile sheets, intersection layouts, utility relocation layouts, water transmission line P&P sheets, standard notes and details, traffic signal design, Construction Sequence and traffic Control Plan, payment making layouts, cross-section sheets, construction cost estimates, and general notes and specifications.

Currently, Landtech is providing construction administration services for the completion of the roadway.
